Visas

All participants entering the Czech Republic must posses a valid passport. No visa is required from citizenship of most European countries, USA and some others. List of states whose passport-holders are not subject to visa regime on entrance to the Czech Republic can be found on web pages of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic

Insurance

Participants should make their own arrangements in respect of health and travel insurance. Neither the Congress Organising Committee nor Agentura Carolina accept any liability or responsibility for death, illness, or injury to person or for the loss of, or damage to property or for any financial loss of any person attending the Congress.

Currency

The official currency in Czech Republic is the Czech Crown (CZK = Kc). The payments of registration fees, accommodation and tourist programme are in Euro. (1 Euro = 31 CZK - March 2002)

Information about prices

Prices in the restaurant depend of quality and places in Prague (diverse centre and suburb). Lunch or dinner cost from 100 Kc (3,5 Euro). Coffee 20 - 50 Kc (1 - 2 Euro). The prices of tickets for transfer in the city are 12 Kc/1hr, 70 Kc (2,5 Euro)/one day, 200 Kc (7 Euro)/3 days, 250 Kc (8 Euro)/one week.

Taxi

The maximum price for taxi services in the district of the capital city of Prague: 22 Kc/1 km, boarding fee 30 Kc, waiting 4 Kc/1 min. Warning for customer: Each taxi has to have yellow roof lamp with TAXI sign, for security - order a taxi with non-stop dispatching offices, order fully filled receipt for the payment by the taximeter printer.

Weather

The usual temperature in Prague in July is between 24 - 30 C and rain, if any, should not last long. You are advised to bring light casual clothes, and sweater or jacket for the evening.

Accomodation

The deadline for the hotel bookings in full choice is May 15, 2002. A number of reasonably priced rooms in different hotel categories and also in student dormitories has been reserved for Lisa's IV participants. All prices include one night, breakfast, service charge and VAT. Please note, that July is a very busy month and very early hotel reservation is highly recommended in order to have better possibilities in finding rooms in the required category.

**** Hotel Opera is in very convenient location near metro station and main bus terminal Florenc in the centre of Prague. Historic city centre can be reached in 5 minutes on foot. Every room is equipped with bathroom and toilet, satellite colour TV, radio, minibar, and direct dial telephone, which allow easy modem connection.

*** A class Hotel Patty - nice hotel close to the Prague Congress Centre is easily accessible from the Old Town. Hotel is a modern and well-equipped central located building.

Hostel "17.listopadu" - price per person - a classic student hostel, simple furnishing. Toilet, showers and small kitchen shared. Travel to conference venue take about 30 min.

How to get to: From the airport, you should take bus #119 to the subway station Dejvicka (green line, marked by "A"). You should get off the train at the station Muzeum (5 stops, respectively) and change the line to the red one, marked by "C", then proceed to the last stop Holesovicke nadrazi. You should NOT use the exit to the railway station. The bus #112 will then take you to Pelc-Tyrolka (2 stops), which is a stop just next to the hostel. Another possibility is to take one of the buses to the get the stop Kuchynka either #102, 156, 175 (2nd stop) or #144 (1st stop). The total transportation time from the airport should be around 60 minutes. From the main railway station just take the subway to Holesovicke nadrazi and then proceed as above. The total transportation time should be around 35 minutes. The fare is 12 Czech Crowns. The ticket must be bought before entering the bus (at the newspaper places, e.g.) and must be marked in the bus in the corresponding machine. Then it is valid for 60 minutes during the working days and for 90 minutes during the weekends, independently of the number of changes.
